The award winning reality television fashion competition ‘Project Runway’, now in its ninth season, has been making a lot of headlines these past few months as the Weinstein Company released information about how to apply for ‘Project Runway: Season Nine’ and announced the creation of two brand new ‘Project Runway’ spin-off shows. But the real question on everyone’s mind has been “When will the new season of ‘Project Runway’ start?”

Representatives of the Weinstein Company and Lifetime Television announced today that ‘Project Runway: Season Nine’ is currently filming and that the season premiere of the show has been slated for Wednesday, July 27 at 9:00/8:00c. This is a change for the show, which has held a Thursday night air time since 2008.

‘Project Runway: Season Nine’ will continue with the 90 minute long episodes that debuted last season, to mixed reviews from fans and critics, and it will continue to be on the Lifetime TV Network. Previously the show’s home was on the Bravo network but made the move to Lifetime last year after a protracted legal battle.

Heidi Klum will continue to host, judge, and produce this season of ‘Project Runway’. Just yesterday her representatives announced that the mother of four had posed nude for the promos for the new season of the show- something that had been rumored for nearly a week but was as of then unconfirmed by Klum herself. Though not specifically stated by the Weinstein Company it is expected that the usual cast of judges, namely Nina Garcia and Michael Kors, along with show mentor Tim Gunn will also be back for this latest season of fashion and drama as sixteen hopeful fashion designers battle it out for the top spot on ‘Project Runway’ and the grand prize. As with other seasons of ‘Project Runway’ a surprise list of celebrities, fashion icons, and designers will make guest appearances and act as guest judges for some of the challenges.

The two new ‘Project Runway’ spin off series, the eight episode long ‘Project Runway: All Stars’ which will bring back designers from seasons past and the all new ‘Project Accessory’ which is currently accepting applications are also expected to air this year though firm dates have not yet been released. It is expected that these shows will not heavily overlap with each other, or their parent show ‘Project Runway’.
